Overview

The National Planning Commission Act establishes the National Planning Commission to advise on policies for national unity, integration, and sustainable development in Nigeria. The Commission is chaired by the Vice-President and includes a Deputy Chairman, full-time and part-time commissioners from various ministries and sectors. Its objectives include determining policies for national unity, social justice, and economic management; coordinating national plans and budgets; and enhancing public sector efficiency. The Act outlines the Commission's functions, powers, financial provisions, relationship with other bodies, and transitional arrangements. It repeals the previous 1992 Act and includes a schedule for proceedings.
