Overview

The National Strategic Cancer Control Plan 2023-2027 is a comprehensive document issued by the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT) in Nigeria. NICRAT was established by the Federal Government under the NICRAT Establishment Act 2017 to provide national leadership in cancer research, treatment, and control. The plan outlines the institute's vision to become a leading organization in cancer research, treatment, prevention, and control in Nigeria and Africa, and its mission to eliminate cancer through regulations, policies, high-quality research, evidence-based treatment, and prevention strategies. The institute is headed by a Director General and includes six directorates: Clinical Services, Research and Innovation, Cancer Prevention, Cancer Surveillance and Monitoring, General Administration, and Finance and Account. The strategic plan covers seven priority areas: prevention, diagnosis and treatment, supply chain management, hospice and palliative care, advocacy and social mobilization, data management and research, and governance and finance. It includes an implementation framework, monitoring and evaluation framework, and costing.
