Nigerian Army Training Policy
Overview
The Nigerian Army Training Policy (NATP) 2022 is a comprehensive document that outlines the training framework for the Nigerian Army (NA). It is the first holistic training policy for the NA, consisting of five parts that connect training and doctrine. The policy emphasizes the importance of continuous training due to the evolving nature of warfare and current security challenges, which are described as violent, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. It introduces a progressive career path for officers and soldiers through a professional military education system. The document was prepared under the direction of Lieutenant General F. Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff, in September 2022. It is classified as RESTRICTED and is governed by the Official Secret Act. The policy aims to ensure the NA is professional and ready to accomplish assigned missions in a joint environment for the defense of Nigeria.
